Our Story

Jerome Reilander is a second generation jeweller. Working in his father's jewellery store in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Jerome learned in his early years what it meant to run a successful jewellery store. The time spent with his father, William, prepared Jerome for superior customer service, which he prides himself on today.

Working at Plaxton's Jewellers was valuable for Jerome, and he wanted to further his education. Jerome moved to Southern California where he attended the renowned Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, California. He earned himself a graduated certificate in Gemmology as well as certifications in coloured stone and gem identification, pearls, and diamond grading and evaluation.

After learning the art of goldsmithing and gemmology Jerome returned to Moose Jaw and took over operations at Plaxton’s Jewellers, the same jewellery store his father owned and operated. Running Plaxton’s successfully for six years, Jerome closed the shop and moved west to Victoria. Jerome spent one year working as a  goldsmith, perfecting his skills on repairs and fabrication.

In 1991 Jerome moved to Sidney, British Columbia, and opened up his own custom shop. Having an idea unique to Plaxton's retail and repair store, Jerome ventured into the highly artistic and creative area of custom jewellery. Thus, JayLyn Jewellers was born. Jerome's custom work has defined Jaylyn Jewellers for nearly thirty years. While continuing to do repair work and appraisals, Jaylyn Jewellers truly shines through their original works.

Post 2008, Jaylyn Jewellers began looking for new opportunities to grow in business. In the advent of skyrocketing gold prices and the demand for selling of unwearable jewellery, Jerome founded a sister company aptly named The Gold Recyclers. For years, buying gold became a great success and in turn grew a diverse inventory of precious metals, and pre-owned diamonds.

After 26 years of operations in Sidney, Jaylyn Jewellers decided to change to exclusively online sales. Utilizing the large inventory of pre-owned diamonds, they began re-cutting the stones. In effect, the now new stones were reset into elegantly manufactured settings at a much lower cost for our beloved customers. The prices are lower per item, but the quality Jaylyn Jewellers has built its reputation on is as strong as ever.

Jaylyn Jewellers would like to thank their loyal and future customers for embarking on this new journey with them.
